Jeannine Catherine Allen Jeannine passed into the hands of God on October 16, 2016, surrounded by her family, at The Hampton Special Care Center in Tumwater, Washington, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. Jeannine was born in 1942 in Bordeaux, France, where she grew up with her sister and parents. She graduated from L'Universite Paris-Sorbonne and then became an exchange student at the University of Maryland. By the end of the school year at University of Maryland, Jeannine had decided she wanted to live in the USA. She went to the San Francisco Bay area where she worked for Syntax Laboratories. She married Tom Allen of Olympia in 1966 at Stanford Memorial Chapel. In 1967, they moved to Olympia, where they raised their three children and Tom worked in the family business. Jeannine's first passion was her children and grandchildren, whom she nurtured, supported and loved unconditionally. She was also a fierce and loyal supporter of her friends, the elderly, the disabled, and animals. She was a member of the League of Women Voters, volunteered at St. Michael School for years, and transported disabled parishioners to and from church. She was also an absolute lover of life. She loved to dance, to host parties, to banter with her friends, to travel, and to laugh. The family were boaters and she loved to travel to the San Juan Islands and Canada. She was also an avid reader, gardener, and seamstress. She will truly be missed by all who knew her. Jeannine is survived by her husband of 50 years, Tom Allen; son, Christophe Allen (Sonia); daughters, Tiffany Hammons (Mike) and Sloan Allen; three grandchildren, Josh Allen, Ryan Allen and Annelise Allen. A Mass of Christian Burial for Jeannine will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church, 11th and Boundary Streets SE in Olympia at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 21, 2016. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Please share memories at www.FuneralAlternatives.org .
