GREENFIELD - Jeanette Evelyn Price, age 78, formerly of Greenfield, died Tuesday (10-11-2016) at Elaine Center of Hadley, following a period of declining health. Prior to her entrance to the nursing home a year ago, she lived at the Weldon at 54 High Street, and for many, many previous years at 30 Fort Square with her sister June. She was born in Greenfield on March 15, 1938, daughter of Albert E. and Pearl N. (Tower) Price, and graduated from Greenfield High School, class of 1956. Jeanette was employed for several years at the former Franklin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and for a period of time at Friendly's, both in Greenfield. Jeanette enjoyed crafts of all kinds, but most especially painting. She and her sister June were avid attendees at various arts and craft shows throughout the area. She was a collector of various intricate art books, vintage dolls and was an extremely talented and accomplished sketch artist. Her creativity was incredible. She LOVED Christmas and enjoyed decorating her home to the fullest - even to putting up her tree before Thanksgiving and not taking it down until Easter! One of her favorite pastimes was visiting Maine every summer with her sister June and seeking out new craft stores. In her recent years of declining health she so looked forward to her weekly visits by wheelchair to Whitney Hill Antiques. Jeanette was predeceased by her sister June in 2005, as well as her parents. She leaves her close friends Cynthia Lively and Lou Pachalis of Greenfield. There are no calling hours. Private graveside services will be held at Green River Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Walker Funeral Home, 14 High Street, Greenfield.
