Jean Carolyn (Rec) Szpak, 83, of Sarasota, FL and formerly of Windsor, beloved wife for 27 years of Ludwik Szpak, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 30, 2016, surrounded by her family. Born in Enfield on September 19, 1933, daughter of the late Anthony and Caroline (Bick) Rec, she was raised in Enfield and was a graduate of Enfield High School, Class of 1950. After high school, Jean continued her education at the St. Francis School of Nursing in Hartford. Jean worked as a registered nurse, starting her career at St. Francis Hospital and retiring from HCR ManorCare in Florida. Jean, as a loving mother, lived in Windsor for many years before moving to Sarasota. She loved to play Euchre with her friends in Sarasota and enjoyed being a part of the many activities that retirement offered. Besides her husband Ludwik, she leaves a daughter, Lynn Leveston of Avon; and three grandchildren, Avery, Cole, and Blake Leveston. She was predeceased by a son, Robert Socolosky; and a daughter, Lori Hedman. Her family will receive friends on Monday, October 17, 9-10:30 a.m., at the Waszkelewicz South Green Memorial Home, 43 Wethersfield Ave., Hartford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m., at SS.
