Jean Patricia Snell
Jean Patricia Snell, age 91, passed away on January 27, 2017 at Bay Front Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL surrounded by family members. Jean was born February 9th, 1925 in Erie, PA. Jean graduated from Middletown High School in 1942. She retired to St. Petersburg, Florida but was a long time resident of New Cumberland, PA. Mrs. Snell retired from the former Mechanicsburg Naval Depot in 1985 after serving some 29 years for the Federal Government. She worked as an inventory Management Specialist. Jean was an avid gardener and won various ribbons for her beautiful roses. She also loved to bowl and played in different tournaments. Jean also enjoyed watching her grand-children and cheering on Penn State football. She had a full and wonderful life an will be dearly missed by family and friends. Jean was Preceded in death by her spouse Samual R. Snell and parents Arnold and Emily (Shewan) Shepherd. She is survived by her sons, Larry Aderholt of Mechanicsburg, PA, William Van Sickle IV of York, SC, and daughter Sandy Cabral, of Arroya Granda, CA, sister, Shirley Dolson of St. Petersburg, FL. Jean was preceded in death by her son Kurt Snell of St. Petersburg, FL, step daughter Sandy O'Ross of Etters, PA, sister Norma Miller of Enola, PA, and brother Edward Shepherd of O'Fallon, MO, and great-grandchild William Van Sickle V. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Larry Cabral, Darwin Cabral, Erick Cabral, William Van Sickle, Craig Van Sickle, Anthony Van Sickle, Vivian Christiansen, Kyley Aderholt, Jessica Podcasy and Dawn Snell, and 3 step grandchildren Jennifer Johnson, Erick O'Ross and Jason O'Ross. She has 10 great grandchildren, 3 step great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service is planned at Trinity United Methodist Church at 415 Bridge St., New Cumberland, PA 17070 for Thursday April 20, 2017. There will be fellowship starting at 10:00AM to 10:30AM and the service will begin at 11:00AM. The spreading of her ashes will be determined by the family at a later date.
