Jean Darlene Miller, 95, of Silver City, passed away Oct. 16, 2016 at the Glen Haven Home in Glenwood. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016 at the Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood with a short service to follow at 11 a.m. Memorials are directed to the family. Jean was born March 3, 1921 on the Living Springs Farm near Treynor, to Nels Gardso and Rasmine Elizabeth (Larsen) Pedersen. She graduated from the Treynor High School with the Class of 1938. Jean married Darwin (Steve) Miller on Feb. 14, 1942. They farmed in the Silver City area until 1953 when she joined the staff at the Glenwood State Hospital where she retired as an area supervisor after more than 30 years. Jean volunteered at the Glenwood Store House for over a decade and was an active member of the Silver City Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Dennis in 1981; husband, Steve in 1994; sisters, Lillian Babbitt, Ann Pedersen, Hazel Rominger and Edna Husz; and brother Arthur Pedersen. She is survived by her son Jim Miller and his wife Barbara (Holiday) Miller of Silver City; grandchildren, Jay Miller of Silver City, Tony Miller and wife Connie of West Salem, Wis., Wendi and husband Tom Payne of Council Bluffs and Melinda Fender of Omaha; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
