ELYSBURG — Jean Marie Mayton, 74, of 154 Pearle St., Elysburg, passed away Monday, Feb. 13, 2017, in Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Born July 2, 1942, in Wakeeney, Kansas, she was a daughter of the late August and Amelia (Reidel) Rome. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School, Salina, Kansas. After graduation she continued her education in real estate, banking and finance. Jean was employed in banking in finance with various real estate and mortgage companies. She worked for many years within the family business, Mayton Mini Mart, in Ranshaw, and enjoyed being in Avon representative meeting many, many people. Jean was married July 18, 1964, in the Sacred Heart Cathedral, Salina, to William Mayton, who survives. She was a member of Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church, Elysburg, and was part of the prayer chain within that parish. She loved to cook and read cookbooks, of which she had quite an assortment. She enjoyed selling Avon and meeting new people. Her favorite activity was spending time with her family and grandchildren and watching her husband compete at the local racetracks. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Bill, and their children, Angela Miller and her husband, Mark, of Aiken, South Carolina, Bill Mayton Jr. and his wife, Heather, of Thurmont, Maryland, Marsha Kringe and her husband, Kevin, of Drums, and Kristen Mayton, of Frederick, Maryland; seven grandchildren, Tyler and Hallie Miller, Ashley Mayton, Jillian, Lacie and Nathaniel Kringe and Christopher Crummitt; a sister, Lenore Berry, and her husband, Les; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Rudy, Clarence and Jerry. MAYTON — Jean Marie Mayton, 74, of 154 Pearle St., Elysburg. Memorial visitation will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Leonard J. Lucas Funeral Home Ltd., Leonard J. Lucas Jr., Supervisor, 120 S. Market St., Shamokin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. in the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church, Elysburg, with the Rev. Joseph Scanlin as celebrant. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jean's memory may be made to Catholic Charities USA, P.O.
