Jean Harper Crenshaw passed into God's loving arms on Dec. 31, 2016, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's. She was born on Sept. 8, 1932, in Armistead, La. Jean met the love of her life, Billy E. Crenshaw, in their hometown of Shreveport, after attending Byrd HS and graduating from secretarial school. They were married on Nov. 11, 1951. Jean was a devoted wife and mother and loved cooking, sewing and attending church. She showed her Christian faith by helping those less fortunate and being involved with special citizen's events with her daughter, Robin. She enjoyed helping children and seeing birds from her window. Jean is survived by her loving husband, Billy Crenshaw and daughter, Debbie Crenshaw of Tyler; daughter, Karen Swenson (Dale) of Suwanee, Ga.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Lillie Mae and Zachary Lee Harper Sr.; siblings, Ione Webb, Martil LaCaze, Z.L. Harper Jr. and Waymon Harper; and her youngest daughter, Robin. Jean's family wishes to thank the compassionate caregivers at Brookdale South and The Hospice of East Texas and the staff at Hilliard's Funeral Home. A life celebration service is planned for the future at her final resting place near Mount Zion UMC in Deberry, Texas. If you would like to honor Jean, please send your donation to Holy Angels Residential Facility, 10450 Ellerbe Rd, Shreveport, LA 71106. Sweet Jean, you will be greatly missed, but those in Heaven are now blessed like we were and are.
