July 9, 1924 - Oct. 12, 2016 PIEDMONT Jean Bunce, age 92, passed away on Oct. 12, 2016, at her home in Piedmont. She was born in Edmond, OK on July 9, 1924, to Harry and Bessie Boyer Drake. Jean was the third generation on her family farm, homesteaded in 1889. She retired from Tinker AFB after having spent a year in Vietnam as a procurement specialist. She was so touched by the plight of the people she met there that she and her beloved husband, George, sponsored a Vietnamese family after the fall of Vietnam. She loved to travel and was always ready to pack her bag. She had extensive hobbies and was very involved in all manner of crafts. She was an avid gardener and had a collection of more than 78 varieties of iris. Jean doted on her children and pets. She was very involved with ancestry research and traced her family back to the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Grey Ladies. She is survived by four daughters, two sons, six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great- grandchild. Her family also includes the spouses of children and grandchildren and many close friends. Funeral Services will be Oct. 17, 2016, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Groves-McNeil Funeral Service of Piedmont, OK. Interment will be in Kansas Cemetery, Piedmont, OK. The family wishes to thank Dr. Michael Crawford and the many nurses who so lovingly cared for her.
