BARRE - A Mass of Christian burial and celebration of life for Jean Claude Bonin, 86, of Summer Street, was held on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017, at 11 a.m. in St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre. He passed away on Dec. 29, 2016. The Rev. Peter O'Leary, pastor of the church, was the celebrant. Crucifer Fred Letourneau was altar server and led the prayer of the faithful. Organist and vocalist Rosemary Badeau accompanied vocalists Romeo Bilodeau, Ronald Routhier and Winston Davis in the hymns, "Amazing Grace," "The Lord is My Shepherd," "Be Not Afraid," "Song of Farewell" and "How Great Thou Art." Soloist Rosemary Badeau sang "Ave Maria." Scripture readings from the Old and New Testament were read by Johanne Bonin, daughter, and Wayne Davis, neighbor. Offertory gifts were presented at the altar by Anna Prescott, Emily Prescott, Amelia May, Katelyn Grout and Jason Grout, great-grandchild and grandchildren. Michael Bonin, son, presented flowers. Pallbearers were Jason Grout, grandson, Marc Bonin, nephew, David Hill, nephew, and Maurice Simoneau, nephew. Words of remembrance were shared by Emily Prescott, granddaughter. Father O'Leary led a prayer service Saturday morning at the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home. Burial was in Hope Cemetery where Father O'Leary led the committal prayers. Scottish bagpiper Jacquelyn Lewis played "Amazing Grace" and "Skyeboat Song." Following the burial, family and friends gathered at the Steak House Restaurant for a continuation of celebration of Jean Claude's life with Donna Moran singing and being accompanied by Chris Martin on the guitar. A video of Jean Claude's life was also presented by Nancy Prescott. Arrangements were in the care of the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home, 58 Summer St., Barre, Vermont.
