In memory of
Jayne (Turner) Vann
Jayne Turner Vann Vero Beach, FL Our beautiful, sweet mother, Jayne Turner Vann, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2017. Even in the last months of her life, she was able to touch and lighten the hearts of those around her with her smile, warmth, and love. Sarah Jayne Turner was born in Shelbyville, Tennessee to Edgar and Grace Shaw Turner on May 31, 1927. She graduated from the University of Tennessee School of Nursing in the class of 1948. It was during this time, that she met and married her husband of 65 years, Dr. EJ Vann. They left Memphis in 1950 and spent four years in Pensacola, FL before moving to Vero Beach in 1954. She was occupied primarily in raising her 6 children, and running the busy household that entails. She was a longtime member of the Hibiscus Circle of the Garden Club, of Indian River County, and the First United Methodist Church. She was predeceased by her parents, three sisters, Elizabeth Worrell, Maureen Turner, and Louise Lewis Hastings, brother, Jim Turner, and her much loved husband, Jim. She is survived by her six children, Beth Smith, Jan Patrick, Jim Vann III, Valerie Vann, Susie Wallace, and Dede Marine; fourteen grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Marie Turner of Shelbyville, TN; cousins, Polly Ingram of Boston, GA, Louie Perry, and Frank Perry, both of Moultrie, GA. Our mother had a deep inner strength and a tremendous love for her children and her husband. Her accomplishments in life were centered in that love, and her legacy will continue to ripple through the lives of all her family. We are strengthened by our memories of her, sad she has left us, but rejoicing for her as she is reunited with her husband, and in the eternal company of our Lord. We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to those who took such beautiful care of our mother during her last years, Dr. Arthur Glaser, and the wonderful caregivers who made it possible for her to stay at home. In lieu of flowers those who wish may make donations to the Memorials Fund of First United Methodist Church, 1750 20th St, Vero Beach, FL 32960 or to VNA /Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960-4801.
