Scheibe, Jarl Jarl (Jerry) L. Scheibe, age 77, of Marshfield, WI, passed away peacefully late Thursday night, January 5th, 2017 at the House of the Dove in Marshfield. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 14th, 2017 at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home, 1010 E. Veterans Parkway, Marshfield with military honors conducted by the American Legion Post 54 of Marshfield. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Fr. Samuel Martin of St. John's Catholic Church will conduct the service. A private interment will be at Hillside Cemetery at a later date. Jerry was born in Marshfield, WI on January 24th, 1939, the son of Rueben and Margaret (Keideth) Scheibe. He attended St. John's Catholic grade school, Purdy Jr. High, and graduated from Marshfield High School in 1957. During high school, he was active in athletics and enjoyed basketball and baseball. Jerry was married to Janice A. Jacques on September 3rd, 1960 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thorp, WI. She predeceased him on August 5th, 2001. Jerry served in the 32d Infantry Division of the Army National Guard from 1956 to 1965. He worked as business or finance manager at various businesses throughout his career, most notably at Sherwin Williams, Klemme Sales in Stratford, WI and Automated Products until his retirement in 2004. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, American Legion Post 54, Knights of Columbus, National M.S. Society, and Paralyzed Veterans of America. Jerry was also past president of the St. John's Holy Name Society and ran bingo at Schuh Hall for many years. Many people knew him as the president of the Marshfield Athletic Corporation (MAC club) and he truly enjoyed umpiring softball in the City of Marshfield and running the MAC Sport Show every spring and MAC men's softball tournament every summer for years, cherishing every moment with so many wonderful teams and players. He was an avid Packer fan. Jerry is lovingly survived by his five children: Scott (Barbara) Scheibe, Eric (Gwen) Scheibe, Leigh Scheibe, Allison (Keith) Wein, and Jay (Tami) Scheibe; his seven grandchildren, Jamie (Jeff) Elmhorst, Steven (Shari) Scheibe, Andrew (fiancé Allison Nelles) Scheibe, Tyler and Samantha Wein, and Dylan and Lydia Scheibe; his two step-grandchildren, Randy (Amanda) Thilgen and Jamie (Lucas) Schulz; his three great-grandchildren, Ethan and Karley Elmhorst, and Jackson Scheibe; and four step-great-grandchildren, Colton and Sydney Thilgen, and Adam and Layla Schulz. He is further survived by his sister, Marlene Wenzel of Wis. Rapids, and brother, John (Rosie) Scheibe of Harshaw, along with numerous nieces, nephews and siblings-in-law. Jerry will truly be missed.
