Janie Schlaht Aug. 22, 1928 - Oct. 12, 2016 Janie Schlaht (nee Eula Maude Herrington) passed away peacefully on October 12, 2016 surrounded by family. At 88, she was the last surviving and 7th born of the 8 Herrington children: Theola Walker, Jessie (Little), Georgie "Belle" (Pate), Roscoe "Jack", Otto "Bill", James "Pete", and Willie "Billie" (Toms). She is survived by sons Charles MacDonnell (Joanne) and Brian MacDonnell (Mary), grandchildren Kelli Cox, Nicole Ann Quinn, Adam MacDonnell and Erin "Rose" MacDonnell, great-grandchildren Alexandria Neshan, Timothy Gieskopf, Anthony Quinn, and Echo Jones, and great-great-grandson's Cyrus Neshan and Lennox Neshan. She is preceded in death by parents George Theodore Herrington and Laura Ann Taylor Herrington, husband Reuben Schlaht, daughter Patsy Nugent and grandsons William Yonce, Jr and Peter MacDonnell. She was born at home in Quitaque, Texas on August 12, 1928. She was married to Albert MacDonnell, a Chief in the Navy. She raised 3 children while moving wherever the Navy took them-Monterey, Guam, Key West, Turkey, Connecticut, and southern California. She was divorced from Al after 27 years, but they remained dear friends until Al's death. In 1977 she married Reuben Schlaht, the love of her life. They were inseparable for the next 37 years. They enjoyed a long retirement of motorcycles and RVs. Together were lovingly involved in all their children and grandchildren's lives. Janie was a positive thinker. She loved staying busy. She did crafts, made jewelry, crocheted and was an astute investor. She had a terrific smile and an easy laugh. She loved being with people. She belonged to the Lodi Senior Bells Good Sam group, and the Red Hats. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at 11 A.M. in the Chapel of Flowers at Cherokee Memorial Park, Hwy 99 and Harney Lane in Lodi.
