Janice E. Martinchak
Janice E. Martinchak, 76, of Dallas, passed away Friday, Jan. 13, 2017, at Celtic Hospice, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Kingston, she was the daughter of the late Burton and Bertha Riley Roberts. Janice graduated from Westmoreland High School and worked as an administrative assistant with RCN Communications, as well as with the Sisters of Mercy. She was a devoted member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Dallas, and was a member of the Dorcas Society within the church. Janice was a member of the Eastern Star, Chapter 396, Dallas. She was an avid pie baker and had won many Blue Ribbon awards at the fall fairs for her pies. She loved to can and preserve the fresh foods grown in the large garden tended by her loving husband. Janice was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Roushey. Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Eugene Martinchak, at home; daughters, Ann Marie Silvestri, Shavertown; Jodi Sprau and her husband, Bill, Shavertown; and Christina Bonath, West Wyoming; grandchildren, Matthew and Morgan Silvestri and Grant, Reid and Porter Luksic, Owen Sprau; brother, William Roberts, and sister-in-law, Maxine; and sister, Sue Bush and her husband, Carl. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Richard H. Disque Funeral Home Inc., 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas, with the Rev. Charles Grube, pastor, St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Dallas, officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Eastern Star Chapter 396, Dallas, will have services Sunday evening.
