Janice Gail McIntosh Iona, 61, A well-known resident of Macon, Georgia, and Active Teacher in the surrounding communities for many years, passed peacefully at her residence on Oct. 10, 2016. Janice was born on June 19, 1955, in Aberdeen, MS. The beloved daughter of the late Dezzie Ann and Phillip McIntosh. She was a member of New Prospect M. B. Church of Nettleton, graduated high school in the state of Georgia and further her education in the state of Georgia. She worked as a Fitness Instructor in the community, self-employed and owner of the business until her health failed. She was very active in her church in Georgia. She was very active in trying to preserve and keep the human bodies in shape, in the courses she taught. In her spare time, she truly enjoyed spending it with her family and friends. Janice will be remembered for many things, her unselfish and unwavering love for her family, her ability to spread laughter and entertaining those around her and finally, her devout courage and bravery while battling a terminal illness. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016, at Greater New Prospect M. B. Church of Nettleton, with Rev. Leon Griffin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Darden and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements in Mississippi and Bently & Sons Funeral Home of Macon, GA Janice is survived by three (3) sons, Sean Dwayne (Shanika) McIntosh and Kevin Jermine "Football" Ruff both of Amory, and Russell Allen Reese of Tupelo; one (1) brother, Peirce (Gloria) McIntosh of Indianola; one (1) sister, Adrian (Coleman) Haynes of Nettleton, MS; and six (6) grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three (3) brothers, Charlie, Robert "Kansas City" and R. T. McIntosh; one (1) sister, Annie Ruth Cook. Visitation will be today at Susie L. Darden Memorial Chapel for 2 to 5:00 p.m. and family hour from 5 to 6:00 p.m.
