Janet (Langstaff) Swaisgood
Janet (Langstaff) Swaisgood Janet entered eternal glory on September 25, 2016 at Evergreen Hospice in Kirkland, WA. Her five year struggle with ovarian cancer finally took her life but it never dimmed her spirit. Born Janet Louise Langstaff on April 15, 1949 in Seattle WA to parents Eugene and Helene Langstaff she was the first of four siblings. Growing up in the Bothell area she graduated from Bothell High School and became a lifetime Cougar serving for years on the school reunion committee. After high school she trained as a dental assistant and worked for Seattle dentist Dr. Irving Anderson and later for Dr. James Iverson an oral surgeon. She and husband Dick met at Alpental Ski Area and married in October, 1975. They were anticipating their 41st wedding anniversary this year. In 1987 Jan joined King County Public Health and worked in the Environmental Health Division. She spent 25 years there working in Permits and Licensing for food facilities, pools and spas and wastewater systems retiring in December 2012. She was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church and active in the many social, service and educational activities in her local parish. Jan and Dick were also active skiers, hikers and later world travelers enjoying learning about different cultures and making new friends along the way. Jan was preceded in death by her brother Gary Langstaff of Kettle Falls, WA. She is survived by her husband Dick, sisters Phyllis Cox of Snohomish, WA and Susan Nutter of Rochester, WA, brother Bryan Dybvig of Everett, WA, and many cousins nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at St Andrews Lutheran Church, 2650 148th Ave SE, Bellevue, WA on Saturday, October 22nd at 2:00pm.
