Jane Wilson Price
CARROLLTON - Jane Price, 87, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2017 to spend eternity with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Jane was born December 5, 1929 in Gaston County, N.C. to the late Columbus Earl "Lum" Wilson and Annie Pettus Wilson. She attended Brevard College, graduated from High Point College and later graduated from William and Mary College with her master's in education. She moved to Newport News serving as an administrative assistant at Grace Methodist Church and in 1954 married Joseph L. Price, Jr. She then began teaching in the Hampton School system retiring from Kecoughtan High School Guidance Department. She was a longstanding member of Liberty Baptist Church where she served in her Sunday School class and was a member of the Liberty Seniors Heart Throbs Choir. Jane was preceded in death by her beloved husband Joe Price, brothers Carl and Frank Wilson, sisters Helen Withers, Ruth Hull, Betty Hartsell, Margaret Wilson, Madeline Perkins, Lorene Tate and Edith Hoffman. Jane is survived by her son and daughter-in-love, Bill and Winnie Price, grandchildren and spouses, Billy and Kristin Price of Newport News, Richie and Chrissy Price of Louisville, Kentucky and sister Frances Towery of Gastonia, N.C. The family will receive friends at Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd, Newport News, VA 23601, on Saturday, February 18, 2017 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., with the service following at 1:00 p.m. The burial will immediately follow at Peninsula Memorial Park in Newport News. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes expressions be made to Liberty Baptist Church, 1021 Big Bethel Road, Hampton, Virginia 23666. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of the ICU Unit and Comfort Care at Riverside Hospital for their compassionate care of Jane and her family.
