In memory of
Jane (Fortner) Oglesby
Jane Oglesby, nee Fortner March 12, 1926 - Sept. 16, 2016 Soquel Jane Oglesby, nee Fortner, was born on March 12, 1926, to Elmer and Altha Omega Fortner in Collinsville, Oklahoma. When she was 17 she moved to Portland, Oregon where she worked as a welder on an aircraft carrier being built in the shipyard at the Portland dock. Her co-worker had a brother, Walter, who was coming home on leave and she thought the two of them should meet. Jane married Walter on March 9, 1945, lovingly raised a son and daughter, Michael (Amanda) and Janice Oglesby; delighted in 4 grandchildren, Mike and Ron Marcell, and Alex and Ashlyn Oglesby; followed by 4 great grandsons, Ryan, (April) Bryant, (Heather) Justin and Derek Marcell; then the kicker of a great- great grand daughter, Lyric Marcell. In 1972 Jane followed Walt to the south pacific island of Truk where they lived for 2 years, then on to Pago Pago, American Samoa, where Jane lived while Walt worked on the very small island of Canton until 1975. Theirs was a love story that didn't end when Walt passed in 1988; Jane waited patiently until September 16, 2016, to pass quietly in her sleep and be with him again. A celebration of life will be held on November 12, 2016, from 1-5pm at the clubhouse of Rodeo Mobile Estates Park, 100 N Rodeo Gulch Road, Soquel.
