Jane I. Maestas
Jane I. Maestas, 89, of Surprise, Ariz., quietly slipped away and into the loving arms of our Lord in the early morning hours of April 10, 2017. She was born Oct. 24, 1927, in Springer and raised in Guadalupita. She was formerly of Brighton, Colo. and resided in Surprise, Ariz. She was preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Dominga Sandoval of Guadalupita; sisters, Mary Maestas, Laura Pacheco, and Eleanor Sandoval; brothers, Joe Sandoval, and Ernest Sandoval; husbands, Seferino Baca, and Juan (Tito) Maestas; children, Richard Baca, Debbie Maestas, and Jeanne Maestas; grandchildren, Orlando Aros, Daniel Aros and great-grandson, Izaak Maestas. She is survived by her children, Josie (Richard) Villalva, Tillie (David) Aros and Janice (Lupe) Lucero, 15 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by sister, Susan Baca; brothers, John (Viola) Sandoval, David (Mimi) Sandoval, Bob (Judy) Sandoval, Eddie Sandoval and Cirilo (Christine) Sandoval, as well as numerous relatives and friends. Jane loved to crochet baby blankets, playing bingo and solitaire, as well as sending cards to everyone in the family for birthdays and special occasions. But her most favorite activity was praying the rosary. She was our "go-to" person for special prayer requests. Services will be held at 9 a.m. on Friday at St. Gertrude's Catholic Church in Mora with interment to follow at Guadalupita Cemetery in Guadalupita. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 26, at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Brighton, Colo., 1096 E. Bridge St.
