In memory of
Jane O'Brien Bauschard
1945 to 2017 Jane O'Brien Bauschard, age 71, died on January 8th, 2017, of complications from cancer. She is survived by Richard Bauschard, her beloved husband and her daughter, Laura Bauschard of San Francisco, California. She is also survived by her brothers John O'Brien of Oxford, Florida and Michael O'Brien of Marietta, Georgia. Jane was an intellectually curious woman with a profound interest in people and the world. Many of Jane's friends and family called her "Tig," a nickname given to her in her early youth. Born in Seattle, Washington, she grew up in Erie, Pennsylvania, and moved to Cleveland in the 1970s. Jane loved animals, and throughout her lifetime, she rescued over 70 stray cats and dogs, finding good homes for them, or keeping them herself. Jane earned a Bachelor's degree from Syracuse University, Master's degree from University of Pennsylvania, and a J.D. from Case Western Reserve University. She was a member of the Ohio Bar Association. She had a lifelong interest in history and was a member of numerous heredity organizations, including the National Society of Colonial Dames of America, Colonial Dames of the 17th Century, Daughters of the American Revolution, Huguenot Society, National Society of Daughters of Holland Dames, among many others. She enjoyed reading, writing and editing, and previously served as Editor of The Junior League of Cleveland's Magazine, as well as serving until just recently as writer of The Intown Club's Notes. She enjoyed volunteering with children at Citizens Academy, a highly regarded charter school in Cleveland, Ohio, until cancer treatments precluded her being able to do so. She would wish that in lieu of flowers that donations be made for the benefit of Cleveland's youth at http://citizensacademy.org/donate . Funeral services will be private.
