Jan Cecil Kline BRIMFIELD - JC (Jan Cecil) Kline, 75, of Brimfield, Illinois, passed away Sept. 2, 2015, at his residence. JC was born in Macomb, Illinois, on Oct. 15, 1939, to Cecil and Veta (McCrae) Kline. He married Kristin Eckman on Nov. 19, 1966. She passed away on Oct. 9, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents and his very special brother-in-law, Al Swanson. He is survived by his children, Kim (Roy Nelsen) Marie Kline of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and Aaron Nathan Kline of Peoria, Illinois; his sister, Kaye LaVee Swanson and her three children; and several cousins. He graduated from Peoria Central High School in 1957 and graduated from Bradley University in 1961 with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He served in the Air Force Reserves from 1962-1964. He had a successful 35-year career at Caterpillar and retired in 1997. After his retirement Kristin and JC enjoyed living as part-time residents of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, as well as at their home in Brimfield. He was one of the founding members of the Sauk Trail Harley Owners Group Chapter and was a lifelong member of H.O.G. His love of touring on his Ultra Classic took him on adventures from Alaska to Europe. He was also a member of the Peoria Astronomical Society, Central Illinois Jazz Society, and the Peoria Ski Club. His love of skiing and the outdoors led him to spend many wonderful years at his residence in Steamboat Springs, CO. A lifelong lover of music, JC's daily soundtrack would feature Bob Dylan, Buddy Guy, Lightnin' Hopkins and Thelonius Monk. His amazing aptitude with all things mechanical, combined with his love of driving fast led him to a successful amateur racing career in the 1960s, winning several national races with his Austin Healy race car. The family invites you to enjoy an evening of jazz in his honor with the Central Illinois Jazz Society's concert Oct. 16th at 6 p.m. at the Landmark Banquet Center, 3225 N Dries Ln, Peoria, IL.
