James Robert Yerry was born on April 23, 1948, in Bakersfield, California, to James and Venita Yerry. He attended local schools and graduated from East Bakersfield High School in 1966. Jim was an avid snow skier, loved music (was in the school band), played guitar, trumpet and drums. He went to be with His Lord and Savior on October 8, 2016, after a short battle with cancer James worked numerous jobs in Bakersfield usually associated with the entertainment industry. He was a graduate of Teen Challenge and loved his Lord, Jesus Christ. He was a faithful and devoted care giver to both his mother and father in their later years. Jim was a generous friend and never hesitated to offer his help to those in need. Jim brought home a miniature poodle in 1965, the first of many poodles to come both in his and his sisters' family. His last poodle, Leo, was his steady companion. Jim is survived by his sister, Judy Yerry Shaw (Errol), nieces, Suzanne Shaw and Angela Robey, (Perry). At Jim's request no services will be held.
