James A. "Jim" Whitmore
James (Jim) A. Whitmore of Selbyville, Del., passed away peacefully of natural causes on October 6. He was born in Detroit on December 11, 1941. He is survived by his brothers; Art and his wife Elaine, Tim and his wife Ruthann, and Terry and his wife Laura, his sister Arlene and her husband, Dave Hansen, all of Cheboygan, Mich. and also by his brother Harley and his wife Jane of St. Petersburg, Fla. Jim is also survived by his granddaughters Samantha Shaubach and her son, Michael, as well as Sabrina and Serena Banks. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews all of whom adored him. He was preceded in death by his wife Clare, father Arthur E. Whitmore, his mother Rose Mary Stout Whitmore and his daughter, Deanna V. Whitmore. Jim was raised in Michigan and served our country in the United States Navy. After he moved to Delaware he became an accomplished house painter and specialized in wallpaper application. He then spent many years working at Sun Marine as a pile driver. In his later years, he enjoyed spending time with family and at CHEERS. Along the way, Jim made many friends. He enjoyed being involved in the activities of his nieces and nephews and served for a number of years as an umpire for a girls' softball team. He and his larger than life laugh will be missed by all. Cremation has taken place. The family will be celebrating Jim's life for all those who would like to pay their respects on Saturday October 22, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Sun Marine Maintenance, 35322 Bayard Rd. Frankford, DE, 19945. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family in care of Stephanie Sheldon at 32290 Hidden Acre Dr., Frankford DE, 19945.
