TAYLOR, JAMES (JIM) ANDREW, 68 James (Jim) Andrew Taylor, 68, of Gainesville, Florida, passed away on April 12, 2017, at the VA Community Living Center in Gainesville, Florida. The funeral service will be held at the VA Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida on May 6 at 1:00PM, with Father Dennis Young and Father Joseph Peters-Mathews officiating. Jim was born in Fort Benning, Georgia on September 7, 1948. He graduated from High School in Baumholder, Germany and continued on to receive a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from the University of West Florida. He was married to Beverly Ann on February 18, 1983, and they were married 34 years. Jim served in the U.S. Army and served two tours in Vietnam. Following that, he worked as a civil servant in Finance at the VA for 33 years. In retirement, he enjoyed sewing, traveling, following the news, jewelry making, and spending time with friends, family, and the family dogs. He is famous for his handmade collection of Hawaiian print shirts. Jim was a steadfast believer in making the most of the time we are given, and everyone doing their part. Jim is survived by his wife Beverly; daughter Elizabeth and son-in-law Eric; granddaughter Olivia; siblings Martin, Wilson, Nicey, Joseph, Raymond, Thomas, and Elizabeth; as well as other family and friends. Honorary brothers include Tom Sutton and T.W. Stephens. He is preceded in death by his parents Rose Marie and Charles Andrew Taylor. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Haile's Angels Pet Rescue or the James A. Taylor Memorial Scholarship Fund, which will be distributed annually to a government employee who is seeking a higher level of education in the Nursing field.
