James Donald (Trey) Smith
July 11, 1988 - October 16, 2016 James Donald Smith, III (Trey), of Trussville, Alabama, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, October 16, 2016. He was 28 years old. He was born on July 11, 1988 in Birmingham, Alabama. He graduated from Shades Valley High School in 2006. In 2011 he married Alexandra Haycopian, and together they had two beautiful children, John David and Hampton. Trey was a dedicated father who dressed up as Santa Claus at Christmas, coached soccer, enjoyed swimming with his children, and hunting. He had a special relationship with his grandparents, Sandra and John Grissom (Grandmother and Papa). His Papa was his best friend. He spent years traveling with them to his Papa's senior softball games. In the past five months, Trey deepened his relationship with Jesus Christ! He spent hours each day in prayer and became an inspiration to his entire family, which will have a lasting impact. He spent numerous hours discussing scripture with his mother, Lori, and his grandmother, Sandra Grissom. Some of his favorite scriptures were: And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love (1 Corinthians 13:13), Come to me all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest (Mathew 11:28), and For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:13). He will be greatly missed and is survived by his wife, Alexandra Haycopian Smith, his son, John David, his daughter, Hampton, his parents, Lori and George Fant, Trussville, James Donald Smith and Dana, Gardendale.
