James A. Silva
James Almada Silva of Savannah, GA, died after a lingering illness on Friday, February 10th, 2017 at age 65. James was born in Sao Nicolau, Cape Verde Islands and emigrated as a young child to Fall River, MA. He graduated from BMC Durfee High School in 1969 where he participated in football, basketball, and was a standout in baseball. He attended Rhode Island College and served in the US Coast Guard. Following four years, he worked for Exxon Mobil as a Officer in the Merchant Marine where he met his wife Brigitte Rolin. After living in New Hampshire, they retired to Savannah. He is survived by his wife Brigitte, his mother Mary of Fall River, brother Lucien and Ginny Silva of Marshfield, MA, sisters Virginia Silva Maniche, Antonia Silva Maniche of Fall River and predeceased by his brother Joseph Silva. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and nephews, cousins and many close friends. A memorial service to honor and remember will be held privately in the spring.
