In memory of
James R. "Sam" Seifferly
Seifferly, James R. "Sam" Bay City, Michigan Mr. James R. Seifferly, of Bay City, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2017, surrounded by his family at the Bay Shores Nursing Center, age 82. The son of the late Charles and Isabelle (Stajkowski) Seifferly, he was born on April 15, 1934 in Bay City. Jim graduated from Bay City Central High School and served for several years in the Michigan National Guard. He was a member of All Saints Parish St. James Church. Jim retired from Bay City GM Powertrain in 1991 after 39 years as a tool and die maker and was a member of U.A.W. #362. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. His longtime hobby was wood carving, especially making caricature and outdoor scenes, and was an avid University of Michigan and Detroit sports fan. Most of all, Jim enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren as their Papa. On October 25, 1958, Jim married the former Nora Adams and she survives his passing along with their children and grandchildren: Jeff (Aileen) Seifferly and their children Nicole (fiance Tim Mantey) Seifferly, Rachel Seifferly and Nathan Seifferly; Deb (Bob) Martens and their children Mallory (friend Charity Bouchard) Martens and Mitchell Martens; Rick Seifferly and his son Jake Seifferly; and Rob (Jennifer) Seifferly and their children Megan Seifferly and Ryan Seifferly. Jim is also survived by his brother: Jerry Seifferly, several nieces and nephews, and his special friends: hunting buddy, Bob Bachelder and his fishing buddy, Fred Smith. Besides his parents, Jim was also preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Cathy Seifferly. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Bay Shores Nursing Center for their friendship and for the excellent care given to Jim. The Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at All Saints Parish St. James Church. The Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Jose Maria Cabrera. Private entombment will be in St. Patrick Mausoleum. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wishes of the Family. www.gephartfuneralhome.com
