James R. Revell Sr.
James R. Revell, Sr. Chesapeake - James "Jimmy" Raymond Revell, Sr., 73, died peacefully at home on. Jan. 5, 2017. He was born in Portsmouth to the late Charles and Julia Revell on Aug. 25, 1943. Survived by his wife of 51years, Maryann Forsythe Revell, son James R. Revell, Jr, daughters Christine A Hernandez (Carlos), Pam M. Brown (Darren), granddaughters Madeline Revell, Anabelle and Larkin Brown, five brothers and three sisters: C. Edward Revell (Pat), Rosemary O'Connell, David Revell (Glenda), Linda Yoder, Richard Revell (Mary), Julie Boyette (Michael), Jerry Revell (Bonnie), Michael Revell, and a large extended family. Jimmy worked in telephony, with 30 years at C&P and AT&T in roles from craftsman to regional and national marketing. He was honored for outstanding performance and top class ranking many times. Upon early retirement, he became a successful businessman, founding three Virginia corporations; Communications Management Associates, Mid-Atlantic BellCom( now Mid Atlantic Business Communications) and Chesapeake Investments. He was a semi-professional historian and professional researcher and genealogist having published books and articles centered on Eastern Shore families and the history of Norfolk County, including the Revell Family. He was a lifetime member of the Edward H. Nabb Research Center of Delmarva History and Culture at Salisbury State University. His volunteer work included 14 years with the Boy Scouts of America, earning the Silver Beaver Award, the Portsmouth Jaycees, and two area churches. Visitation and lunch will be at Church of St. Therese, 4137 Portsmouth Blvd., Chesapeake, VA 23321, on Saturday Jan. 14, 2017 from 12 noon to 3 PM.
