James W. Reuther 1930 - 2017 SPRINGFIELD, IL - James W. Reuther, 86, of Springfield, died at 6:14 a.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at Mill Creek. He was born Oct. 22, 1930, in Effingham, Ill., to Jacob Reuther and Oma Fern Eaton Gaertner. He married Shirley Woodrome on Feb. 19, 1955, and she survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Barbara Ann Reuther (companion, Lee Daugherty) of Springfield; one son, James "Greg" Reuther of Hillsboro; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Tony Gaertner. James was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Agnes Church. He was a member of Automotive Trades Association as past president and American Legion Post #32. He loved to play golf, fish and work on stained glass. He was co-owner of Illini Glass for 24 years in Springfield and Litchfield. Visitation: 9-10 a.m. Saturday, March 18, 2017, at St. Agnes Church. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m., Saturday, March 18, 2017, at St. Agnes Church with the Rev. Robert Jallas officiating. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery where Inter-Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will conduct military honors.
