James Alex Peterson died Friday, Dec. 16, 2016. Graveside service: 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, in Laurel Land Cemetery. Memorials: Donations in his memory may be made to the mission fund of First United Methodist of Fort Worth. James was born March 14, 1959, to Charles Lee and Thaira Wilkerson Peterson. He played football for Crowley and Bowie High Schools. He was a licensed minister. He and his wife Teresa ran ACHOR Restoration Ministries, being awarded "Best Family Program" in 2007 and 2011 by Governor Rick Perry. He loved helping ex-offenders restore their lives. James also ran a small utilities and septic company. He was preceded in death by his father; brother, David Tumey; and grandparents, Alex and Inez Wilkerson, and Virginia Peterson. Survivors: Wife of 25 years, Teresa; mother, Thaira Johnson and husband, Charles; daughters, Katy Cox and husband, Ben, Kasandra Powell and husband, John, and Michelle Letulle; grandchildren, John Walter, Caden and Natalie Powell.
