James E. Peterson, D.V.M. July 26, 1931 - September 29, 2016 On September 29, 2016 James E. Peterson, D.V.M. (Doc Pete) went home to be with Jesus. He was born in Lodi, California to Meriam and Lawrence Peterson on July 26, 1931 the oldest of five children. He attended schools in Lodi, enlisted in the Coast Guard and served during the Korean War. After he got out he attended veterinary school at University of California, Davis and graduated in 1960. He was licensed and practiced in California, Utah and Idaho until February, 2016. He moved with his wife Judy to the Sweet/Horseshoe Bend area in January, 2001 where he built a practice from scratch making many good friends as well as clients and patients. Veterinary medicine was his passion. He loved his animal patients and anyone who saw him around animals knew it. He loved to visit over a cup of coffee and share stories with his clients after the call was complete. He is survived by his wife, Judy, two brothers, two sisters, one son, two step sons, five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the West 12 Ranch Stallion Barn, 3434 W. Hwy 12, Lodi, CA on October 22, 2016 at 12 noon. Words cannot express my gratitude to the nurses and caregivers at Cheny Ridge, Emmett. They were so kind and tender with Doc, especially in the last days. Thanks also goes out to the staff at Horizon Hospice you were wonderful, too.
