December 27, 1945 - April 17, 2017 EDMOND James "Jim" Mills was born December 27, 1945 in Winchester, Indiana. A graduate of Ball State University in 1969, his love for his Alma Mater continued as he dragged his family to Ball State football games all over the Midwest. His avid- love of sports knew no bounds -- from NASCAR to baseball, Jim loved it all.Jim's grocery career started in high school as a grocery sacker at a supermarket in Muncie, Indiana and continued as VP of Operations of Scrivner Foods and President of IGA Marketing for Fleming Foods in Oklahoma City until 1999. In 1999, Jim acquired the local chain of Snyder's IGA Grocery Stores until 2004 notably winning the 2001 International Retailer of the Year.His passion for collecting baseball cards led him to open Bases Loaded Sportscards from 1990-1999. His father, Dave and son, Brent helped operate the stores. Jim loved to open and sort packs of cards with his family and customers.Jim valued his family and loved making memories with his grandchildren. He especially enjoyed helping garner the passion of baseball with one of his grandsons as he spent many hours at batting cages and playing catch.He is survived by his wife Linda Clure-Mills, mother of his children Patricia D. Mills, daughter and son-in-law Jana and Jason Cathers, son and daughter-in-law Brent and Erin Mills, daughter and son-in-law Kristin and Austin Higgs, step-son and daughter-in-law Jason and Mandy Apple, step-daughter Becky Apple, grandchildren Rylan and Bryce Deason, Ethan and Jaxon Roloff, Madisyn, Scarlett and Avery Jane Apple, and his beloved dog, Hallie.Memorial Services will be held April 24, 2017 at 11am at Montellano Event Center, 11200 N. Eastern Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of James W. Mills.
