James L. "Jim" Melton
James L. "Jim" Melton, age 61 of Lono, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at his home. He was born May 9, 1955, in Malvern the son of James Arvin "Shorty" and Patsy Jean Heard Melton. He was a Ouachita High School Class of 1973 graduate, brick mason and rural route mail carrier for many years. He was the President of the Heard-Melton Hunting Club, member of Bethlehem Masonic Lodge #338, Rural Route 3 Office Stewart, and member and Deacon of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Jim loved rock n roll music, turkey hunting, was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan but above all a devoted husband and family man. He was preceded in death by his father, In-Laws, Ernest "Pete" and Elsie Sue Tucker Felty, and brother-in-law, Al Harrell. Survivors are his wife of 42 years to whom he married on August 30, 1974, Nancy Felty Melton, mother, Patsy Melton of Lono, his children, Christy Lynn Williams (Chris) of Brentwood, CA., Jamie Marie Haanpaa (Miki) of Finland, Jason Lawton Melton of Tulip, Jesse Edward Melton (Jennifer) of Little Rock, brother, Russell Melton (Sue) of Little Rock, Sisters, Dr. Carolyn Sue Melton Eoff (Roy Lee), and Tammy Harrell all of Lono, grandchildren, Alyssa Nicole, Jaiden Myrissa, Rylie Kristen Williams, and Cole Edward Melton, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be Saturday, October 15, from 11:30 AM until 1PM at Regency with funeral services at 1PM in the Regency Chapel with Brother Brad Warren officiating. Burial will follow in Lono Cemetery with Masonic Rites by Rockport Masonic Lodge #58. Pallbearers will be nephews. Honorary pallbearers are Rural Route Mail Carriers, and John Doddridge. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Lono Cemetery Association, Arkansas Heart Hospital, Arkansas Children Hospital. Arrangements are by Regency Funeral Home.
