James "Jim" Land
James "Jim" Land, 76, of Bardstown, died Sunday, April 16, 2017, at his residence. He was born March 1, 1941, in Bardstown. He worked at Heaven Hill Distillery for 34 years, he retired from the U.S. Army after 22 years, he was a Vietnam veteran, and a member of American Legion Post 121. He was preceded in death by his parents, Buford Howard Land and Mary Catherine Shipp. Survivors include his wife, Else Land; two daughters, Michelle Lovvorn and Lenora (Timothy) Burke, all of Bardstown; two grandchildren, Caylen Lovvorn and Trenton Lovvorn; two great-grandchildren, Cayden Lovvorn and Karsyn Lovvorn; a sister, Jo Ann (Freddie) Culver, of Wilmore; a brother, Ronnie (Debbie) Land, of Bardstown; several nieces and nephews; and his favorite niece, Catherine Lynn (Charles) Pelston. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, at Barlow Funeral Home with burial in Bardstown Cemetery. Bro. Rodney Lynch will officiate. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, and 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may go to Disables American Veterans (D.A.V.) Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
