James "Jim" Lee Jackson, 84, passed away peacefully in his home, on Monday, Oct. 11, 2016. He was born on May 7, 1932, in Goodland, Kan., to Earl and Violet Jackson. Jim's family relocated several times when he was younger, but eventually settled in Houston, Mo. After attending the local schools he graduated from high school in 1950. Jim spent most of his life as a general contruction contractor in the Houston area. He was a dedicated believer of the Baptist faith, and served for several years as the pastor for Eunice Baptist Church, in Eunice. Jim also taught classes and was involved with the Faith & Hope Baptist Church in Willow Springs, and the North Side Baptist Church in Houston. In August 2009, Jim and his wife, Della, moved to Troy and became active members of the First Baptist Church in Moscow Mills. After attending Sunday church services, Jim's favorite pastime was watching his favorite football team, the Green Bay Packers. He also enjoyed spending time with family, and friends, woodworking, and Jim was an avid gardener. In June 1952, he was united in marriage to Edna West, and they were blessed with two children: Linda and son, Richard. On Sept. 21, 1963, he was united in marriage to Della Cain. Upon this union, Jim gained a daughter, Jane and a son James. He will be remembered lovingly by all those who knew him. Jim is survived by his beloved wife Della Jackson of Troy; their children Linda and husband Brian Hopkins of Troy, Richard and wife, Bonnie Jackson of Troy, Jane and husband Harold Bentley of Salem, and James and wife, Nancy Sullivan of Edwardsville, Ill., grandchildren David and wife Christy Smith, Richard Jackson Jr, Ryan and wife, Brittany Jackson, Lindsey Hopkins, Kelly Carr, Aaron and wife Sarah Sullivan, Angela and husband, Michael Smiley, Shain Sullivan; great-grandchildren Kyle Smith, Allison Sullivan, Seth Smiley, Steven Smiley, Jasper Sullivan, Kevin Carr, Nicole Carr, and Jacob Marler, as well as many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, LaVerne Stone, and brother, Leonard Jackson. A memorial service will be held on Friday, Oct. 21, 11:30 a.m, at the First Baptist Church, 40 Walter Court, Moscow Mills. Rev. Dr. Ron Bullock to officiate.
