In memory of
James Matthew Hagan Sr.
Mr. James Matthew Hagan, Sr., age 75, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2017. He was born September 19, 1941 in Geneva County, Alabama to Felix and Lela Hagan. Mr. Hagan was a resident of Liberty, Florida. He graduated from Walton High School in 1959. He was a veteran of the Armed Forces serving his country in the United States Army as a Military Policeman. He also worked as an agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He was retired from Choctawatchee Electric, where he served on the Board of Trustees for 3 years. He graduated from Florida State University with a Degree in Business. He served as a former President of the Kiwanis Club and he was also the former President of the Volunteer Fire Board, and he was First Responder with the Liberty Volunteer Fire Department. He was affiliated with the New Covenant Fellowship Church. Mr. Hagan is preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Lela Hagan and his son James 'Matt' Matthew Hagan, Jr. Mr. Hagan is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Betty Hagan; daughter, Sandy Blackwell and husband Dr. Samuel Blackwell, grandchildren John, Lauren and Rachel Blackwell., also survived by his special pet 'Molly'. The family would like to say a special thank you to Rose Sirois for her devoted and timeless caregiving, to the Chautauqua Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Healthmark Regional Medical Center, and Dr. Howell for their loving care provided for James during his extended illness. A time of visitation will be held at 6:00~8:00 PM, Monday, April 17, 2017 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, April 18, 2017 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Dallas Burdett officiating. Pallbearers will be Greg Hagan, John Blackwell, Gary Hagan, Sammy Hobbs, Jason Leddon and Keaton McDonald. Honorary pallbearers will be J.B. Baker, Kelby Hagan, Devin Hagan and Cason Hagan.
