James Edwin Dax was born July 17, 1944 in Berkeley, CA and died peacefully, surrounded by family, on Oct. 11, 2016. His death was due to complications from Parkinson's Disease, having been diagnosed 6 years ago. He grew up in Walnut Creek, CA, was a resident of Citrus Heights for the past 44 years, and spent much time in the Alta-Dutch Flat area of the foothills. He was preceded in death by parents Henry E. Dax and Muriel G. Logan Dax and brother Henry W. "Bill" Dax (Charlene). He graduated from Las Lomas High School, Diablo Valley College, and UC Berkeley with a degree in Architecture. Jim served 2 years in the Army, stationed in Germany during the Vietnam era. He practiced architecture in the Sacramento area, working for various architects, and had been a member of the American Institute of Architects. Jim enjoyed being with family, fishing, hiking, traveling, building, and going to Denio's flea market. His latest passion was collecting antique typewriters and other antique office paraphernalia. Jim is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kathi Bridgeford Dax, daughters Nancy Springer (Doug) of Texas; Cindy McClung (Todd); son Tim Dax, brother Thomas Dax (Karen), sister Jane Woodley (Randy); grand-children Brandon, Zach, and Alyssa Springer; Anna and Erica McClung; 2 step-grandchildren Scott and Holly McClung; and 3 nieces, 5 nephews, and their children. A special thank you to the staff at Chicago Ave. LLC for their loving and caring ways in making Jim's final days comfortable. Thank you Heather for this wonderful picture of Jim. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Roseville Parkinson's Support Group ( rosevillepsg.weebly.com ) of which Jim and Kathi were members or to the local Parkinson Association of Northern California ( parkinsonsacramento.org ).
