James P. CROSS
CROSS, James P. James P. Cross passed away in Prosser, WA on September 26, 2016. Jim was born at the Old Asbury place in Harrison, Idaho in 1932. He graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane, served in the U.S. Air Force and then graduated, with honors, from the University of Washington. He married Dorothea Kakaris and had two daughters, Jacalyn and Jeriann, and son David, who died in infancy. For many years Jim worked as a manager and eventually, Marketing Vice-President, for Columbia Lighting of Spokane, traveling extensively around the country representing the company. He married Sharon Holroyd in 1987 and gained a stepson, Craig. Jim and Sharon loved light and sunshine and when research showed Prosser as being the best in both, they moved there and totally enjoyed the small town. He was so very loved by his wife, daughters, Craig, siblings, family and held in high esteem by his many friends. Jim was a lifetime fisherman, a sometime golfer, a history buff, a writer of essays/poetry and later in life took great pleasure in the craft of woodworking. Jim may be best remembered for his annual Winter Solstice party to celebrate the return of longer days. He thoroughly enjoyed a classic martini or a glass of wine. He was known as a fine cook who could swell a progress, start a scene or two, and his dessert courses often ended in an oration of classic poetry. Please contact the family for information on a Celebration of Life gathering.
