JAIME VAZQUEZ Former Councilman & US Marine, Jaime Vazquez, 67 years of age died on Wednesday 10/12/2016 at the Jersey City Medical Center. Born in Cayey, Puerto Rico he was a lifelong Jersey City Resident. He was a graduate of St. Peters College with a Bachelors Degree in Social Science. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War where he received a purple heart from wounds sustained during a grenade explosion as part of the US Marine Delta Company, First Marine Regiment. He served the residents of Downtown Jersey City as Councilman for 12 years, serving as the voice of the Hispanic Community as well as Veteran Groups. He is the Beloved son of Ada Dela Cruz (nee Rolon) and the late Ziolo Vazquez. Loving father of Cynthia Vazquez-Stone, Jaime, and Anthony Vazquez. Dear Brother of Carlos Vazquez, Jose Massa, Linda Banks, Raymond Massa, Zaida DeBlasio, and the late Ricardo Massa. Cherished grandfather of 5. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Friday, October 14, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Introcaso-Angelo Funeral Home, 143 Brunswick Street, Jersey City, NJ. Funeral Saturday, October 15, 2016 beginning at 10:00 a.m., departing for a Graveside service at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City, NJ.
