In memory of
Jacquelyn Yelverton Coggins
Jacquelyn Yelverton Coggins, 78, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2016, at her home. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at St. James United Methodist Church with the Rev. Johnny Branch officiating. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park. A native of Fremont, N.C., in Wilson County, she was born to the late Marvin C. Yelverton and Della Dees Yelverton. Mrs. Coggins was a graduate of Greensboro College. She worked as elementary school teacher and then as a bookeeper at Coggins Car Care with her husband in Greenville. She was a longtime member of St. James United Methodist Church, The Greenville Service League, ECU Pirates Club and the Dilettante Book Club. She was an avid bridge player and played in multiple bridge clubs, one for 51 years. She loved spending time with family and friends and enjoyed entertaining during the holidays and special events (and they were all special to her). She enjoyed girl's trips to Myrtle Beach and family gatherings at the family cottage in the Outer Banks. She so looked forward to ECU home games, tailgating and having her family come to town to root on the Pirates. Games will not be the same without her. Mrs. Coggins was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Charles Stephenson Coggins in 1997. She is survived by: daughter, Christy C. Jethro & son-in-law Doug Jethro of Virginia Beach, VA; son, Charles S. "Chuck" Coggins Jr., & daughter-in-law Dee Dee Coggins of Raleigh; granddaughter, Parker Coggins and grandson, Cole Coggins; sister, Della Yelverton Hayes; brother in-law, Phillip Hayes; and a sister in-law, Ruth Coggins Ward. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home and at other times at her home. Memorial contributions may be made to: St. James United Methodist Church, 2000 E. 6th Street, Greenville, NC 27858. Arrangements by Wilkerson Funeral Home & Crematory.
