Jacqueline Black Jacqueline Black passed away on September 16, 2016. She was born November 2, 1924 in Reno, Nevada to Robert and Pearl Ellen Prescott. Jacquie was a student at Roves Ring Elementary, North Side Jr. High School and Reno High School. She graduated from the University of Nevada Reno in 1946 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and Psychology. Her views on various subjects have remained strong her entire life. Edward Black, her high school sweetheart, married Jacquie in June of 1946. They began their married life briefly in Reno and then moved to Las Vegas. Upon their return to Reno, they owned and operated the Western Cigar Company. While attending the University of Nevada Jacquie was a Phi Beta Phi. Later she became a charter member of P.E.O. and was the last remaining charter member of Chapter T. She also belonged to the Assistance League of Hawaii, Daughters of the Nile Chapter 56. Locally she belonged to the Boys and Girls Club of Kings Beach, Incline Village Hospital Auxiliary, Nevada Museum of Art and was a very generous benefactor to her favored groups. After their first vacation to Hawaii, Ed and Jacquie loved it so much they purchased a condo on Waikiki. In 1958 Ed and Jacquie built a lakefront home on the North Shore of Tahoe even before there was an Incline Village. In 1975 they began building their present home in Crystal Bay, Nevada. They divided their time between Tahoe and Hawaii. Jacquie was very proud to be a native Nevadan. She was very knowledgeable about all aspects of Nevada history, geography, politics, art and Indian lore. Jacquie was very fond of animals, especially her two tabbies, Bob and Peggy Lou. They have given her great joy and amusement. Jacquie and Ed loved to entertain and were well known for their great hospitality. The Blacks also loved to travel. Lee and Nevada Besso were their favorite travel companions. They travelled extensively in Europe and the Far East. Jacquie's favorites were Spain and Japan. Their travels were recorded by Jacquie's excellent photography. Jacquie's life-long best friend from Reno High School is Lorraine Hamleyn. They have kept in touch all these years. When Jacquie married Ed Black and Lorraine married Bill Van Tassel they became a very close foursome. Jacquie and Ed became the godparents of the Van Tassel's two daughters, Cynthia and Lynne. The Van Tassels were frequent guests both in Hawaii and Lake Tahoe. Genuine lasting friendships were one of Jacquie's main priorities. Her sense of humor and unassuming attitude about everything are treasured by her many friends. She will be missed. In lieu of flowers, you may wish to make a donation to the Incline Village Community Hospital, the North Lake Tahoe Community Health Care Auxiliary, or to a charity of your choice. A Celebration of Jacquie's Life will be held at the Chateau in Incline Village on October 24 from 4 pm to 6 pm.
