Jacquelene "Jackie" Coleman
Jacquelene "Jackie" Higgins Coleman November 9, 1928 - October 14, 2016 Jacquelene "Jackie" Coleman died at the age of 87 at Meridian Care Center, Meridian Idaho. We will greatly miss a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, and friend. She was a very special lady who will live in our hearts forever. We were so lucky to have her in our lives. She was born November 9, 1928 in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. Her parents were Oscar and Ada (Aslett) Higgins. She was a member of the Church Of Latter Day Saints. When she was 12 years old her family moved to Clearfield, Utah. While there she went to Davis High School and worked part time in the Arsenal Defense plant during World War II. Then at the Dee Memorial Hospital in Ogden she met the love of her life; Terry R Coleman. Her family moved to Kimberly, Idaho, where she graduated from Kimberly High School in 1946. Terry joined the Navy during World War II. After being discharged from the Navy they were married August 26, 1946. They followed Terry's line of work in Idaho, Oregon and Washington, raising 3 children. While living in Soda Springs, Idaho, she especially enjoyed working with the "Pink Ladies" hospital auxiliary in the medical records office. She was also in charge of their annual fund raiser "Odds & Ends" sale for 3 years. She enjoyed bowling with the Wells Cargo ladies team. They took first place in Idaho. Jackie & Terry enjoyed doing many things including traveling on vacation to Hawaii, Cancun, Florida, Oregon coast, and California with their family. They also went south to Yuma, Arizona and she liked to go into Algodonez, Mexico. One of her favorite times each summer was going to Stanley, Idaho. There they reunited in the family cabin for family reunions. They had so much fun there. Someone once asked what was their secret of all those years together? She replied; "I have no idea. We are worlds apart in many ways but are like one in the ways that count". They moved to Nampa, Idaho in 1978. She was an active member of the Nampa Art Guild for many years. She is survived by her husband of 70 years; son Michael (Marilyn) Coleman of Meridian, Idaho, two daughters; Vicky (Earl) Grunden of Springfield, Missouri, Deanna (Dan) Jones of Soda Springs, Idaho. 10 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren 2 great-great children; one brother; David (Mattie) Higgins, Kimberly, Id; one sister; Cheryl (Kent) Brown, Sandy, Utah (and many nieces and nephews). Preceding her in death are her parents (Oscar & Ada Higgins); brother Jimmy Higgins (who was her best pal when they were young); sister and brother-in-law (Bonnie and Ernie Prescott). There will be a grave side service at a later date in Lava Hot Springs, ID. Arrangements are under the direction of the Nampa Funeral, Yraguen Chapel.
