Jackie D. Allen AGE: 78 • Millville Jackie D. Allen, 78, of Millville passed away Sunday morning January 8, 2017 at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland. He was born in Millville on January 1, 1939 and was the last surviving child of the late Edmund and Ella Woolford Allen. He and his wife, Dona M. (nee Merritt) Allen had been married for 58 years. A longtime resident of Millville, he lived at his current address for 33 years. Mr. Allen served in the US Air Force and was a veteran of both the Korean War and Vietnam Era. He entered military service in 1956 and served until his honorable discharge in 1980. He saw active duty in Guam during Vietnam where he received several awards and commendations including the Air Force Service Medal with an Oak Leaf Cluster. After his discharge, he returned to Millville and worked as a mail carrier at the Millville Post Office for 15 years. He was a member of the American Legion Nabb-Leslie Post #82 of Millville. He was an outdoorsman who in his younger years enjoyed hunting and fishing. More recently he liked working in his garden. His most loved activity was spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Tammy L. Haenn (Jay) of Bridgeton, one daughter-in-law, Kathi J. Allen of Millville, four grandchildren, Jessica Haenn, Jennifer Kalnajs (Ainars), Caitlyn K. Weil (Christopher) and Jeremy Allen, five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, William D. Allen, one grandson, Brandon Allen, brothers, Edmund, Raymond, Jesse, Paul, Vernon, William and Mulford, sisters, Thelma, Frances, Hope, Lois and three infant siblings. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services on Thursday morning January 12th at 11:30 at the Freitag Funeral Home, 137 W. Commerce St., Bridgeton with Pastor Andrew Grunder of the Country Road Bible Church officiating. The interment, with military honors, will take place at the Cumberland County Veteran's Cemetery in Hopewell Township. Friends will be received at the funeral home Thursday morning from 10:30 until 11:30. Written condolences and tributes may be expressed to the family at .
