Ivy Michelle (Salmon) Johnson, 46, of Portsmouth, VA, departed this life, surrounded by her family, in her home on Friday, October 14, 2016. While Ivy lived most of her life in Hartford, CT, she and her family recently relocated to a beautiful, new home in Portsmouth, VA to be near family. Known for her outgoing personality, she could always make her family and friends feel at ease. "St. Ives," one of the nicknames she had, would have a joke to make everyone around her laugh. She loved family, serving as the ray of sunshine to those who love her, always having a warming, soothing hug to give. Her big, bright smile always made us smile in return, especially during family gatherings, where she always brought her positive energy. Yet she would "tell us like it is," giving us her honest opinion. Fiercely loyal, she protected those who meant the most to her. She was also known for her cooking. Her favorite dish to prepare was fried chicken and mac & cheese, which would leave her family and friends always craving more. Ivy was born on June 25, 1970 at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford, CT to Carlton and Lela Salmon. She was a 1988 graduate of A.I. Prince Regional Vocational-Technical School. Ivy was a wonderful, loving daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, who will live on in the hearts of those she loved and who loved her. Ivy is our 'Angel.' She leaves cherished memories with her parents, Carlton and Lela Salmon; her mother-in-law, RoseMary Johnson of Hartford; her husband of 18 years, Senia Johnson, III; three children, Senia (CJ) Johnson, IV of Portsmouth, VA, Bree'Ana Johnson of Hartford, CT, and LaSaundra Lawrence of East Hartford, CT; one granddaughter, Genesis Marie Hamidou; siblings, Devon Salmon and wife Ann Marie of St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, Milton Salmon of Hartford, CT, Brenda Salmon of Hartford, CT, and Felicia Griffin-Fennell and husband Gregory of Bloomfield, CT; four sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; two beloved parakeets, Ciara and Zion; and a host of relatives and friends.
