Iris Marilyn Caldon
Iris Caldon Iris Marilyn Truesdale- Caldon, 79, passed into heaven on October 23, 2016, in Arroyo Grande, Calif. Iris was born in Paso Robles, Calif. in 1936 to parents Clarence and Gladyce Truesdale. The family moved to Arroyo Grande where she grew up with two brothers and graduated from Arroyo Grande High in 1954. She attended Beauty school in Santa Barbara where she received her Cosmetologist license. She married Gerald Caldon in 1957 and they left for an Air Force, military family adventure. Over the next 16 years they were stationed in six different states including three years on the Azores Islands. Iris raised three children. When Jerry was in Vietnam, she became involved with the POW campaign and worked with Family Services on Vandenburg AFB. After retirement they moved back to Arroyo Grande. Iris purchased "A Touch of Style with Iris" salon where she worked for 40 years until a stroke in 2005. They were married 50 years until Gerry's passing in July, 2007. Iris was a member of the Arroyo Grande United Methodist Church where she is most remembered for wearing a collection of colorful hats. She was active in the Arroyo Grande Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star and recently received her 25 year pin. Iris is survived by her three children: Pamela Caldon-Suess, Mark Caldon and his wife Yvonne Alarcio-Caldon and John Caldon; six grandchildren: Nicholas Suess, Stephanie Suess, Meredith Alarcio- Caldon, Alan Caldon, Caleb Caldon, and Katerina Caldon; two brothers: Elwin Truesdale and wife Ann, and Calvin Truesdale and wife Dorothy; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am, Friday, October 21, 2016, at the Arroyo Grande Methodist Church. Following, please join the family for a hat party/luncheon at the Masonic Lodge, 112 Poole St., Arroyo Grande.
