Irene Cirko Yarnot, 90, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017, with her loving family at her bedside. Daughter of the late Mary Chelak and Harry Cirko, Irene was born and raised in Hanover Township, where she graduated from Hanover High School in 1943 and Stratton College in 1946. She was employed by the Social Security Administration for 48 years, retiring in 2010. A wonderful mother, endeared supervisor for Social Security, and dear friend, Irene will be forever cherished by all who knew her. Irene was steadfast in her faith and trusted in our Good Lord and in the plan He had for her life. She was a devoted member of Our Lady of Hope Parish. She was predeceased by her husband, Wenceslaus Edward Yarnot, and three brothers, Harold, Joseph and Cyril. She is survived by four daughters, Diane Yarnot-Stilp, Joan Timalonis and her husband, John, Donna Alexander and her husband, Robert, and Karen Zeigenfuss and her husband, Paul; grandchildren, Jason, Jessica and Jennifer Stilp, Kristen and Kathleen Timalonis, Bobby, Caileen, Ryan and Matthew Alexander, Lauren Lesko and Alexander and Nicholas Zeigenfuss; and great-grandchildren, Mason, Sofia and Logan Pringle and Colton Stilp. Irene is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many friends. The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday from S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, 530 W. Main St., Plymouth, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Hope Church, 40 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Nanticoke. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and from 8:30 a.m. until funeral time on Saturday.
