Irene Alma (Meisch) Schulz
Irene passed into the loving arms of her Lord Jesus Christ and Savior on January 9, 2017 at the age of 95. Irene was born July 31, 1921 in Tuttle, North Dakota. She spent most of her younger years including high school in Mclaughlin, South Dakota on a farm in a Sioux Indian reservation. Irene held numerous different jobs including working for the Department of Navy (Atomic Energy Commission). She held top secret clearance and refused to divulge anything related to the job. When asked about it, she always said she couldn't talk about it because she would get in trouble. At the age of 11, Irene was born again and baptized into the body of Christ. She taught many Sunday School classes, children's programs until the age of 90 and was involved in numerous Bible studies. After leaving the ranch in the Franklin, CA area and moving to Lodi, Irene started painting. She became an accomplished artist and taught over 300 students in her Lodi studio. After suffering a stroke in 2011, Irene moved into Ashley Place where she was well cared for. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, William and Lydia Meisch and all of her siblings, Lillian Hinsz, Reuben, Dorothy Meisch, Eugene, Ruby Martell, Leroy and Vernon. Husband Frank Schulz Sr., step son Ty Schulz, grandson John Buscher and great grandson Justin Schulz. Irene is survived by her children, Harley (Mary) Schweigert, Gary (Kathy) Schweigert, Jane (Harlan) Maita, Todd (Doris) Schweigert, Frank (Donna) Schulz Jr., step son Kay (Elizabeth) Schulz, 27 grandchildren, 69 great grandchildren and 31 great-great grandchildren. A celebration of Irene's life will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 10:30a at Temple Baptist Church, 801 S. Lower Sacramento Rd., Lodi, CA 95242. The family would like to especially thank the staff at Ashley Place for their love, kindness and devotion to Irene's care and Vitas Health Care (Hospice) for their care and devotion and special family friends Dee Dee Bishop and Jaime Howen.
