Ira E. Bergman, 94, of Shillington, passed away October 16, 2016 at 5:30 p.m. in the Reading Hospital where he was admitted earlier in the day. He was the husband of Frances E. (Emerick) Bergman with whom he celebrated 63 years of marriage. Born in Adamstown, Lancaster County, he was the youngest child of the late James and Kathryn (Gensemer) Bergman. Ira was a machinist for Trim Master, Temple, for 25 years, retiring in 1984, and was an Army veteran of World War II. He a member of Shillington Old Timers and a former member of Clover Park A.A. In his younger days, he played baseball for the Clover Park team as well as in school. He enjoyed collecting cast iron toys, antiques, his Model A Ford and especially his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Daniel E., husband of Kathleen Bergman, Mifflin Park; his 6 grandchildren: Matthew and Gregory Bergman; Carrie Ingalls; and Jennifer, Laurie and Robert Seiger; and his two great-grandchildren, Ronan Bergman and Jaxson Seiger. He was predeceased by his daughter, Denise E. Seiger in 2009; and his siblings: Clair G. Bergman, Melrose Fisher, Kathryn Bixler and Margaret Greth. Celebration of Life service on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Klee Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., One East Lancaster Ave., Shillington. Interment will be private.
