HUBERT EDWARD HOLLEY, 95, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016. Born April 27, 1921, in Indiana Harbor, Ind., he was the son of the late John Edward and Ada Delight Holley. Hubert graduated high school in 1939. Shortly thereafter, he began working at Inland Steel Company, married his high school sweetheart, and started a family. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in World War II in the European Theater. He was a member of East Chicago First Church of Christ, where he served as deacon, elder, and board member. After his retirement in 1983, Hubert relocated to Fort Wayne. He continued to pursue his interests, and was remarried to Ruth, who shared his involvement in many church activities and ministries at Golden Years Homestead. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; son, Douglas (Kay) Holley; daughter, Natalie (Fred) Keller; grandchildren, Heather (Carlos) Loyola, Luke (Jessica) Holley and Holly (Gerry) Sampson; great-grandchildren, Becca (Jaime) Diaz, Zac Holley and Zeke Holley; nephews, extended family and friends; and his beloved cat, Tiger. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Jean and Thelma Ruth; first wife, Bertha Jean; daughter-in-law, Wanda Lee (Holman); and nephew, Charles Edward Shofroth. Funeral service is 10 a.m. (EST) Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016, at McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. (EST) Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, at the funeral home. Visitation begins 2 p.m. (CST) Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016, in the Chapel at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 711 East 77th Ave., Schererville, followed by burial.
