In memory of
Howard Hosmer, Jr., passed away peacefully on February 12 at age 84 with family members at his bedside. Howard is survived by Dorothy, his beloved wife of 59 years, daughter Dianne, sons Philip and David, daughters-in-law Gina Kazimir and Jeanine Jarkowski, grandson William E. Hardy and many nieces and nephews. He was the son of Howard Sr. and Gertrude and the brother of the late Mary Edith Gilbertson and the late Helen Dentler. Howard was born and raised in Washington, D.C. After graduating from Penn State University, Howard served in the U.S. Army and earned a law degree from George Washington University. He was a human resources professional at the Social Security Administration for 32 years, retiring in 1995. A resident of Towson for 53 years, Howard was an active member of Towson Unitarian Universalist Church. He enjoyed hiking, camping, traveling, and genealogical research, tracing his family's lineage to England and Germany. Howard was an 11th generation descendant of James Hosmer of Hawkhurst, England, who came to America in 1635 and was one of the original settlers of Concord, Mass. A memorial service in celebration of Howard's life will be held on Saturday, April 22 at 1:30 p.m. at Towson Unitarian Universalist Church, 1710 Dulaney Valley Rd, Lutherville, MD 21093. Howard donated his body to the Maryland Anatomy Board. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at www.lls.org
