Homer Alvarado Corpus Christi, TX Homer Alvarado, a South Texas legend, passed away in the San Antonio's Veteran's hospital from health complications on January 11, 2017, at the age of 59. Homer was born on January 24, 1957, to Cirilo and Trinidad Alvarado in Corpus Christi, Texas. Homer is survived by his father, children's mother, Lucy, daughter, Delfina, sons, Homar (Veronica) and Andrew (Martina), sister, Bertha Garcia, brothers, Arturo, Ernest, and Rolando, and several other relatives. Homer's passing was preceded by his mother, infant-daughter, Delilah, and brother, Oscar. Homer was a Roy H. Miller High School student and he proudly served as a U.S. Marine, inspiring his two sons to also serve as Marines. Homer's service took him to Arizona, USA, and Okinawa, Japan. Corporal Alvarado was honorably discharged in July 1978. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., on Sunday, January 15, 2017, at Corpus Christi Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m., that same evening. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, January 16, 2017, at SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church. Inurnment to follow at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
